Interesting article, although I disagree 100% besides the part about America's role in Yemen crisis. The United States military is a crucial part in protecting the dominance of the US dollar in global trade. One of the reasons why the United States cannot reduce the funding on its military is because of the rise of other military and economic forces like China that threaten the United States' military and economic dominance on the world. The United States reducing spending on its military and increasing spending on social services is like giving up long term gains for short term gratitude. I can guarantee that weaker United States military presence on the global stage can have a much larger negative consequence on the United States' economy. The US dollar is trusted around the world because of the dominance of the United States in global economy and military. If the United States were to give up their military dominance, it would cause a serious harm to its dollar, therefore severely weakening its economy. Before you write something outlandish like this, I hope you can see the long term consequences of what you may be suggesting to your readers.
